    • Join us as Shannon talks about the fine art portrait that she offers for not only her children’s portraits but also her families, seniors, and family clients.  Shannon will highlight on:

    • Why she focuses on fine art photography and not volume work.
    • Stylizing a studio session by using textures, lighting, and other creative elements.
    • The steps to create a compelling theme.
    •   How to conduct model calls to attract the right client.
    • The best-selling products in her studio.

    Shannon is a nationally recognized award-winning photographer based in Colorado Springs. In 2019 Shannon won her first 1st place GIA in the Children’s category and went on to win another two more, before winning the overall GIA in 2020. In addition to her GIA wins, Shannon has also been a part of Team U.S.A. in 2022 and 2023 with two images on the team each year. 

    Shannon started photography in high school with film photography before attending Art school in Seattle where she earned her Associate degree in Commercial Photography. Shannon also has her Master photographer degree, Master Artist Degree, Cpp, Craftsmen degree, and Image excellence, through Professional photographers of America.

    When Shannon is not teaching around the U.S., working with clients in her studio, or creating educational tutorials for her online academy, she is spending time with her family and 3 young children.

    • Day one of the workshop will be all about fine art portraits from start to finish. We will start with a quick photoshoot and then dive right in to editing.

      Learn How To:

    • Style and guide subjects to get the right mood and balanced for the image.
    • Properly light for composites and complement the story tone.
    • Retouch skin to achieve flawless and soft texture and tones.
    • Brush on light to pop and brighten the skin.
    • Smooth blotchy tones with frequency separation
    • Balance dark under eye tones by using the patch tool.
    • Use the quick select tool, masking, and histogram tools for adjusting and warming skin tone.
    • Create gorgeous colors and catchlights in the eyes.
    • Use textures to bring drama and interest to your image.
    • Hand edit to add depth and dimension to your images
    • Add balance to your images to tell a story.

    Workshop Day 2

    Day two will be focusing on compositing and adding composite type elements to an image to create a unique one-of-a- kind art piece for your clients.

    Learn How To:

    • Cut a subject shot in studio, then perfect placement onto a digital backdrop.
    • Use Photoshop tools to cut subjects seamlessly.
    • Blend digital objects and meshing colors.
    • Properly size objects and subject.
    • Shadow and shape light so your images are cohesive.
    • Use layer masks to blend and manipulate.
    • Build up your 'digital' background to create a full scene
    • ·Play with shadows and highlights, softening layers and subjects, and bring it all together for a final work of art.
    • Work in channel mixer to adjust background tones
    • Digital portrait painting for a final and stunning fine art portrait.

    You will be sent a zoom link once you are registered.

    Cost:  The Cost for PPSV, PPWC, and PPSCV members is $10.00 per image. Guest cost is $15.00 per image.

    Note: You will need to register with printcompetition.com and Pay for at least the BASIC membership to ENTER images for competition (The cost for basic is $13 yearly, or premium $17 Quarterly, or $63 annually.) You can use the free account to just watch.

    Steps for entering the PPSV Image Competition:
    1. Log-in to your Printcompetition.com account
    2. Choose the PPSV Logo (available once a competition is open for registration)
    3. Scroll down to the “Create New Image Entry” and click on the link
    4. Enter the Image Title
    5. Select the Image Category
    6. Click on the “Create New Entry” link
    7. Scroll down to the “Entries for the Upcoming Event” section and upload your image(s)
    8. Once uploaded, click on the “Pay Image Fees” link (located in the red bar above the “Create New Image Entry” link) and pay according to the number of entries uploaded. Any entries not paid for prior to the competition night will be removed from the competition. Note: once paid, fees may not be refunded.

        In today's market, great senior images are a dime a dozen...so modern seniors are looking for something different, unique, and eye-catching. This is particularly true with senior guys! In this class, Josh will guide you through creating fresh senior images that today's senior guys are proud and excited to show off. Using typically unconventional methods for lighting, posing, shooting and editing, you will be sure to find some new techniques that you can adapt to your workflow immediately that will get your senior guys excited to book their sessions!

        LEARN HOW TO:

        • Build a theme foundation based upon emotion, mood, lighting, and clothing style
        • Use unconventional lighting (gel, harsh lighting) that best features senior guys
        • Understand how to pose senior guys to tell a compelling story¬

        From capture through post-processing, we'll look at the necessary techniques needed to create compelling senior composites that grab attention! We will break down those techniques into easy-to-understand methods so that you can begin creating eye-catching composites right away. Creating killer composites doesn't have to be intimidating!

        LEARN HOW TO:

        • Use easy-to-understand methods for compositing your images
        • Create and blend shadows and highlights so composites look realistic
        • Use composition techniques to attract and keep the viewer’s attention
        • Create killer composites that have depth and impact
        • Photograph and light your subject to simplify the composite process
